The story begins with my first Instagram: laundry in a trash bag. This is not how it ends.
This is idea pig. When you squeeze his belly, he spits out an idea. He gave me the idea to start a startup. And introduced me to poverty.
I lived off trader joes samples, and installed interesting hacks to my car. This was the scrappy phase.
Until we discovered angels, called investors. They moved us to Chicago.
The startup taught me lessons in "branding."
And ideation...
Meanwhile idea pig was doing his job, but gave me a friendly reminder to never suction his snout to my forehead.
After months of living the startupville life, we presented our product to a room full of investors.
The world was at our finger tips. Until...
...our hopes of being a unicorn began to fade, like my car's paint job.
Fortunately, a little startup in San Francisco called Airbnb was hiring.
...but moving this guy across the country was no easy task (that's a cat leash).
I wrapped myself in the brand, and learned how to express it visually.
Some days were spent in the office...
And other days on set.
Being the most attentive producer I could.
Some night's were spent in mini-yurts...
...others, with grannys and NBA hall of famers.
I saw the world...
..one stranger's home...
...and one baguette, at a time.
Joy happened.
As did darkness, in the city of light.
But at the heart of all of these experiences was humanity.
And unearthing these stories through photography and video, has been my passion all along.
Imagery can bring so much light to the world.
