Hoops Abuelas
There are projects that come along every 2 to 3 years that change your life. Then there are those that fall into your lap once in a lifetime - working on a documentary about the Hoops Abuelas basketball team, of Orizaba, Mexico was one of those opportunities. As part of a series of editorial storytelling for Nike Women’s, our team spent 4 days in Mexico capturing the beautiful story of a group of 70-year-old+ basketball players - who have spent the last 40+ years playing together. Alongside a documentary camera crew, and agency partner, we filmed their practices, games, birthday parties, secret rituals, and impromptu dance parties. The film was so popular, that Nike Women’s Instagram featured stories and posts on the team for 5 straight days over the Christmas Holidays (even JLo liked one of the posts :)
